Eosinophilic airway inflammation

Inflammation caused by an excessive activation of the eosinophils, namely, the white blood cells that are part of the normal immune system. It is estimated that eosinophilic inflammation is present in at least 50% of adults with asthma. Eosinophils may also be elevated in patients with hay fever (allergic rhinitis), or with parasite infections, or some types of pneumonia.
